Journal of the Serbian Society for Computational Mechanics
is the official journal of the SERBIAN SOCIETY FOR COMPUTATIONAL MECHANICS (SSCM), member of International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM) and European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS).

The Serbian Society for Computational Mechanics was founded during The First South-East European Conference on Computational Mechanics (SEECCM 06) held in Kragujevac, 28-30 June 2006. At this Conference the participants enthusiastically decided to establish the SSCM on June 28, 2006. We here present the original of the founding document, prepared at the meeting by Professors Onate and Papadrakakis, and hand-written by Professor Manolis Papadrakakis, with signatures of the participants. The document specifies the basic aims of the SSCM.

Following the spirit of the founding document, the Presidency of the SSCM decided to launch Journal of the Serbian Society for Computational Mechanics (JSSCM). The main aims of the journal are to promote computational methods, their applications in theoretical and applied sciences and medicine, first of all in Serbia and in the Region of South-East Europe. This dissemination of computational methods and their applications should impact research and education at universities, as well as developments in research institutions, industry and medical clinics throughout the Region. Also, the journal should attract young researchers to publish their results and motivate them to use computational methods and software in various fields of science, engineering and medicine.

The Editorial Board consists of scientists from Serbia and from around the world. This expresses the intention of the Presidency of the SSCM to achieve high standards in the quality of papers published in JSSCM and to attract international researchers from other countries.

Journal of the Serbian Society for Computational Mechanics publishes original research articles dealing with computational methods in mechanics and in other fields of applied sciences, as well as applications of these methods in science, engineering and medicine. Membership in the Serbian Society for Computational Mechanics is not a prerequisite for publishing articles in the JSSCM and the Journal is open for contributions from all countries.

We promise to do our best to promptly publish all accepted papers and respond to all questions in a timely fashion.
